Before the greatly anticipated Enchanted Garden Ball, a few of my friends and I had another ball to go to… The Body Society (BodySoc) Ball. The Ball was held at the Rougemont Hotel in Exeter, right opposite the Rougemont Gardens. I had already been to a BodySoc Ball at Christmas and it was great so we were very on the ball to get tickets for the summer equivalent. The Rougemont is a great venue for university balls and really reasonably priced.
The ball was a 1920’s Great Gatsby Theme, which although was great fun meant that we had to get thinking about our outfits. Beaded dresses are quite expensive because of all the hand embroidery and I didn’t have one so I just decided to wear a black dress and shoes that I already owned, but bought a headpiece off ASOS and added some gold jewellery to slightly follow the theme.
For £17 we got:
- Half a bottle of wine each (there was actually more than this in reality)
- A 3 course meal – starter wasn’t great but the other two courses were amazing
- A fun photobooth with lots of accessories
- Performances from Semi-Toned (the University’s a-cappella group) and a dance society
It was a great night out, even despite my sun burnt arms from my cycle in the daytime to Exmouth beach.
